Father Son Campout
Well the campout is now over. I can't wait for next year already. We had around 25 guys staying for the whole weekend which was really awesome. We also had another 10 or 15 who just came for the day on Saturday. The fishing wasn't as good as last year but that didn't stop us from trying. Several trout were still caught. There was also the usual hiking and dirt biking all weekend long. Saturday we cooked steak dinner for 30 which was cool. Thanks to everyone who came for that, your support is much appreciated. If you want to see all the pictures you can see them HERE.

Update
Well with the car building and races all done we were back to normal at Stockade this week. This week we talked about serving in our post times. Our theme verse was Ephesians 6:7, "Serve wholeheartedly as if you were serving the Lord not men" The Sentinnels spent their post time cleaning bathrooms and the kitchen and sweeping the gym.
Chief Ranger Laird told us a story about three brothers named Joe, Ben, and DJ Mudde. They went to Angola and helped to cap a spring to give some villagers clean water, they also showed the Jesus film to the people at the end of their work days.
See you next week.

GRAND PRIX!!
Well tonight was the Grand Prix and from what I saw it was not a disappointment. Cars were judged on looks as well as the fastest car, with a trophy for each. After many rounds of double elimination and a final race where you had to win twice to be the champion, Markus H ended up with the trophy for the fastest car. Simon H with his blue and yellow Formula 1 "esque" car won for the best looking car. We also had a good number of parents, friends, and family members there to watch.
After the races were over Ranger Ed shared with us about how building cars takes a team of people to complete. Even our Grand Prix cars were not made by only us we all had help doing it. He also told us how being a Christian is like being on a team of people all working together and helping each other out. He also told us that our lives are like the Grand Prix track. Our cars did well on our track because it was nice and straight but if there had been corners to it our cars wouldn't do well at all. Ranger Ed shared a verse from Proverbs that says if we trust in the Lord at all times that he will make our life straight like the track. We also learned that at the end of our lives that we all come to the finish line. The apostle Paul told us to race so that we could win the prize at the finish line, just like we raced our cars to win a trophy tonight. At the end of our lives we can await the prize of eternal life with Christ.
Big thanks to Ranger Ed for supervising and looking after this event at Stockade. I can't wait for next year. Maybe by then my car will be finished.
Thanks also to the wives of the Rangers who sent cookies for us to enjoy after.

Shape N Race Update
Well we had a great turnout this week, 17 guys showed up. Shape N Race cars are well under way, there was some painting going on tonight. We also played scissors game tonight. If you haven't seen this game it is quite the sight. Everyone sits in a circle and pass a pair of scissors around the circle. As you pass them to the next person you must specify whether they are crossed or uncrossed. Ask your boy about it.
Shape N Race is set for February 17. Parents will be invited to come and watch the races. Watch for some specific information next week.

New Year
Well first off sorry about not having posted lately. I have forgotten to take pictures a couple times now. The ones that I have posted tonight are from last week I think. One is of a new game we played called Nose Ball, ask your son about it if you get the chance,
Tonight we talked about strength which God gives to us. Our theme verse was from Psalm 28:7a, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped,"
The other thing that you need to know is that we have started working on our Shape 'n' Race cars for our race night in early February. By now your boy should have a block of wood to shape his car from. Tonight we started cutting out the outlines for the guys. If your boy cannot get his car cut out at home then he will need to bring it with the outline drawn on the side for next week. The first picture above shows an example of a block of wood ready to be cut. Shapes can be drawn or printed from the internet and traced. Once the car is cut it can the be sanded and then painted. Once all the cars are done we will be having a race night. We should be able to gauge next week how the progress is going and then decide which Wednesday to have the races. See you all next week.
